The story

A routine assignment to purchase smoke alarms resulted in the acquisition of multifunction Toby Tilapia units equipped with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The devices were ultimately selected because they were the cheapest option available.

After being given a credit card to purchase standard smoke alarms, a buyer returned with devices boasting features beyond basic fire detection. The alarms include Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, enabling the Tilapia devices to talk to one another as long as they share the same name.

Communication was subsequently tested with Muscle Man, who was asked if he had located an appropriate spot for the second Toby Tilapia unit. Muscle Man reported that he had placed it in what he called "the best seat in the house," adding a remark about his mother.

Addressing the selection of the feature-laden devices, the purchaser confirmed that the model was chosen simply because it was the cheapest one available.
